MPR Chairman and Muhammadiyah Leader Discuss Global Geopolitical Dynamics
Jakarta (ANTARA) - MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani and General Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Haedar Nashir discussed global geopolitical dynamics during a meeting in Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Sunday (5/4) evening.
During the visit, Muzani conveyed greetings from President Prabowo Subianto to the ulama and pesantren leaders there.
“I conveyed this news to him (President Prabowo) that I would visit Yogyakarta and he sent respectful greetings to the figures, the ulama, the pesantren leaders we would visit, including to Prof. Haedar and Mrs Haedar,” Muzani said in his statement in Jakarta on Monday.
The meeting was part of MPR Chairman Muzani’s working visit to Yogyakarta.
On that occasion, Haedar explained that in the meeting, he and Muzani discussed that unity is the strongest capital in facing the current global political situation.
“We discussed that our strongest capital is unity. So, when we unite to face whatever the global political situation is, Indonesia, God willing, will be able to handle it,” he said.
He also assessed that Prabowo’s leadership has a commitment to maintaining sovereignty and humanistic values on the global stage.
“And we believe that President Prabowo with a constitutional spirit and maintaining Indonesia’s sovereignty will bring Indonesia to the principles of independence, justice, and civilisation or civilised humanity in carrying out global political orientation, including defending Palestine,” he said.
In addition, Haedar and Muzani also discussed steps to become an advanced country. According to Haedar, developing human resources is important to welcome Golden Indonesia 2045, considering that this nation has great potential.
“With our focus, we need to build human resources through strong education, health, and social programmes. Muhammadiyah’s concern remains there, plus strength and building the economy,” he said.
