MPR Annual Session Shortened to Accommodate Friday Prayers
Wakil Ketua DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has revealed preparations for the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD. Dasco stated that preparations have been underway since the previous day and that, in general, there are no significant differences compared to previous years’ events.
“Yes, this annual session, the President’s speech regarding the 2027 State Budget, that is the first point. Secondly, we have been checking readiness since yesterday. Hopefully, today it can run smoothly. Okay,” Dasco said when met by journalists at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, ahead of the MPR Annual Session on Friday.
Dasco said that overall, there are no special preparations that differ from the implementation of the Annual Session in previous years. However, several agenda items have been shortened to adjust to the time for Friday prayers.
“If we look at the preparations, there is no difference, except that some things have been shortened because we are chasing the time for Friday prayers,” he said.
On that occasion, Dasco was also asked about news that the President would be bringing eight special guests to the MPR Annual Session. However, Dasco admitted that he could not quite remember the names of the guests.
“Yes, regarding the eight special guests, I don’t quite remember their names, but you can see them later. Thank you. Okay,” Dasco said.
