MPR Annual Session and 2026 Joint DPR-DPD Session Ready to Convene
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia, Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, stated that the 2026 MPR Annual Session and Joint DPR-DPD Session are ready to be held on Friday (14/8).
“Preparations are already more than 90 per cent complete. It can be said to be finished because all relevant stakeholders have been involved,” said Sultan during a press conference after checking the full rehearsal at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday.
The preliminary rehearsal was conducted on Wednesday (12/8). Meanwhile, the full rehearsal was held on Thursday afternoon, involving the Ministry of State Secretariat and the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres).
“The rehearsal went well. Everything is ready,” he said.
When asked about the topic of the speech to be delivered at the joint session, Sultan said the DPD is carrying a theme aligned with the theme of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, namely a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.
“A sovereign nation can only exist if its regions are strong. So, strong regions, sovereign Indonesia,” he said.
He said that as a unitary state, Indonesia stands firm because of strong regions, and unity is the key to maintaining that strength.
