MPR Annual Session 2026 Scheduled for 14 August, to Start Earlier

Wakil Ketua MPR RI Eddy Soeparno announced that the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD are scheduled for Friday, 14 August 2026. Unlike previous years, the agenda will commence earlier to accommodate Friday prayer times.

Eddy explained that 14 August was the most ideal date, considering the time constraints ahead of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. “We cannot hold it on the preceding days because the limit is three days before the 17th. So the 14th is the most ideal,” Eddy stated at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (6/8).

According to information from the Secretariat General, this year’s session will begin at 08:30 WIB. This time shift is intended to ensure the series of events does not clash with Friday prayers. Meanwhile, the second agenda, which discusses the financial note, is planned to take place from 13:30 to 16:00 WIB.

In addition to the change in start time, Eddy also conveyed regulations regarding attire. For this year’s session, participants will not wear traditional regional clothing. Men are required to wear a complete civil service uniform (PSL), while women will wear attire that conforms to the dress code.

Parliament plans to invite a number of national figures, including former presidents and vice presidents, as well as heads of friendly states. As a form of respect, parliamentary leaders will personally visit these figures to deliver the invitations.
