The General Secretariat of MPR RI and Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) have signed a memorandum of understanding. Acting General Secretary of MPR RI, Siti Fauziah, views the partnership as strategically valuable, particularly in supporting the intensified constitutional studies being pursued by the MPR.

“UII possesses a strong faculty and a centre for constitutional studies that aligns with the MPR’s current needs. This collaboration is crucial for fulfilling constitutional duties,” Siti stated in a written release on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

She added that the cooperation extends beyond academic research to encompass public relations and facility development, such as library management. According to her, UII’s library could serve as a reference for the MPR in creating a comfortable and representative literacy space for the public.

Furthermore, the MPR is opening opportunities for UII students to participate in internship programmes within the MPR RI environment. In addition, students will gain understanding of the MPR RI’s Four Pillars.

Siti also emphasised the importance of strengthening comprehension of the four pillars, especially among the younger generation, amid the proliferation of social media.

She expressed concern that many young people, particularly Gen Z on platforms like TikTok, still lack understanding of the basic concepts of nationhood.

“Gen Z, including university students, are the successor generation that will lead this nation. Therefore, understanding of the four pillars must be continuously strengthened. This is what the MPR is doing through the socialisation of the Four Pillars of MPR—Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika—using various methods,” she said.

One effective method, she continued, is the National High School Quiz Competition (LCC), which has now reached all provinces in Indonesia. She hopes the partnership with UII will be sustainable and serve as a model for collaborations with other universities.

Meanwhile, UII Rector Fathul Wahid welcomed the cooperation and described it as an honour for his institution.

“We are very enthusiastic because many collaboration opportunities are opening up, from academic studies to internship chances for students,” Fathul stated.

He hopes this partnership will strengthen UII’s contribution to nation-building, particularly through synergy with MPR RI.

For information, the memorandum signing, combined with a discussion themed “Perfecting the Constitution in the Context of Strengthening the Institutionalisation of Democracy,” was held in the Datar Meeting Room, Prof. Dr. Sardjito Building, UII Integrated Campus, Yogyakarta.

The memorandum was signed directly by Siti Fauziah and Fathul Wahid, witnessed by officials from both institutions.
