MPLS at SDN Srengseng Sawah Proceeds Normally After Bomb Threat

The School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in South Jakarta proceeded normally after the school received a bomb threat on Monday, 13 July 2026. New students participated in the MPLS activities in groups, following the teachers’ instructions. Students from other year groups were also seen carrying out teaching and learning activities in their classrooms with teachers. “Alhamdulillah. The MPLS implementation is safe. It has been handled by the authorities,” said a teacher who declined to be named when met at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung had previously stated that learning activities at the primary school would continue following the bomb threat. “Because the police have taken action,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Monday, 13 July 2026. The bomb threat against the school occurred on the first day of the academic year. The threat, sent via a WhatsApp message, claimed that 11 bombs had been planted in the school. Students and teachers were temporarily evacuated, and the Gegana bomb squad was deployed. On the same day, the Metro Jaya Regional Police arrested the perpetrator of the bomb threat. The Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that the suspect’s motive for sending the bomb threat message was merely a prank. Nevertheless, investigators are continuing to probe the suspect’s actual motive, including examining his background. The Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the suspect had been taken to the South Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters. According to Budi, the suspect, identified by the initials MY, aged 34, is a resident living not far from the school.
