MPLS 2026 to Begin 13 July: Schedule, Rules, and Materials for All School Levels
The 2026/2027 academic year will commence shortly, with all students across every level returning to school simultaneously on 13 July 2026. The first week will feature the Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS), or School Environment Introduction Period, for new pupils.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has issued Ministerial Regulation Number 12 of 2026 concerning the MPLS. This regulation replaces the previous Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 18 of 2016 on the Introduction to the School Environment for New Students.
Below is the schedule, rules, and materials for the 2026/2027 MPLS.
MPLS Schedule
MPLS will take place during the first week of the school term, from 13 to 17 July 2026. The programme is carried out through various activities designed to introduce the school environment, teachers, and new classmates. All new students are required to participate in these activities.
During MPLS, there is a code of conduct that all new students must follow, including items they are required to bring and specific prohibitions.
Prohibitions During MPLS
According to the ministry’s website, perpeloncoan (hazing) or any other form of violence is strictly prohibited during MPLS. Organisers are also forbidden from collecting fees or any other form of payment.
MPLS activities must be relevant and must not deviate from the established guidelines, including the use of attributes. Alumni are not permitted to be involved as MPLS organisers, nor are students who do not meet the criteria to serve as organisers.
The following are prohibitions in the implementation of the 2026 Friendly MPLS:
Conducting hazing, bullying, or any form of physical or verbal violence.
Collecting fees or any form of levy from new students.
Providing activities that are not relevant to the objectives and materials of MPLS.
Using attributes that are not educational or unrelated to MPLS activities.
Involving alumni as organisers or executors of MPLS activities.
Involving students who do not meet the requirements as committee members or facilitators according to applicable regulations.
Sanctions During MPLS
Organisers who violate these prohibitions will face sanctions, including written warnings, suspension or reduction of rights, release from duties, and temporary or permanent dismissal from their positions.
MPLS Materials
During the MPLS implementation, new students will receive a number of materials from the organisers. These materials have been determined by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. The main MPLS materials include the ‘Seven Freedoms of Great Indonesian Children’ movement, cheerful mornings, polite and courteous social media conduct, and a culture of smiling, greeting, politeness, and courtesy.
These ministry-determined materials are expected to create an inclusive learning environment within schools.

These materials can be used as a reference by MPLS committees, school principals, and teachers in arranging school environment introduction activities according to the official guidelines from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.
Reference for 2026 Friendly MPLS Activities
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has also provided a Friendly MPLS 2026 Activity Reference Guidebook for kindergarten, primary, junior high, and senior high/vocational school levels. This guidebook can serve as a reference for schools in planning and implementing MPLS activities in accordance with applicable regulations.
