MPLS 2026: How Many Days? Check the Official Schedule Again
Today marks the first day of school. New pupils will undergo a school environment orientation period, known as MPLS, over several days.
The implementation of this year’s MPLS is regulated under Permendikdasmen Number 12 of 2026 concerning the School Environment Orientation Period (Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah/MPLS). This regulation replaces Permendikbud Number 18 of 2016 on School Environment Orientation for New Pupils.
Under Permendikdasmen Number 12 of 2026, MPLS lasts five days during the first week of the academic year. For Jakarta, based on the 2026/2027 education calendar, MPLS 2026 will take place from Monday, 13 July 2026 to Friday, 17 July 2026.
Prohibitions During MPLS
The following is a list of prohibitions during MPLS activities:
Bullying or other forms of violence
Fee collection or collection in any other form
Irrelevant activities
Attributes that are non-educational and/or irrelevant
Involving alumni as organisers
Involving pupils who do not meet the criteria
Five Activity Ideas After MPLS
Before starting lessons in full, schools and teachers usually have a number of special agendas in the first week. The aim is to create a positive, democratic and orderly classroom climate.
The following are recommended activities commonly carried out after MPLS.
Class Agreement: Teachers invite pupils to discuss and draw up class rules, rights, responsibilities and beliefs agreed upon together democratically.
Election of Class Officers: Holding deliberations or votes to determine the class chairperson, secretary and treasurer to develop children’s leadership and responsibility.
Initial Diagnostic Assessment: Giving light written tests or short interviews to map pupils’ learning styles, interests and basic understanding.
Group and Schedule Allocation: Determining the daily cleaning duty roster, allocating study groups, and announcing the subject timetable.
Extracurricular Finalisation: Directing pupils to promptly fill in registration forms for extracurricular activity units according to their interests and talents.
