Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of DPR RI Commission VII Hendry Munief has urged local governments to integrate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with owners of major industrial supply chains. According to him, local governments also need to redirect a portion of their goods procurement spending to absorb MSME products. “Ease permitting, provide incentives and subsidies, and facilitate investment,” said Hendry in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday. During a working visit to the Riau Provincial Government, he stated that the main challenge in the region is not the potential of resources, but the quality of planning, budget allocation, and the courage to execute the existing resource potential. For the tourism and creative economy sectors, he recommended integrated eco-tourism corridors and digital incubation for local creative industry players to reach international markets and shorten distribution channels. “We also hope that the Riau Provincial Government can encourage the private sector to continue moving forward,” he said. On the other hand, Hendry added that steps taken, such as new policies on motor vehicles, control of subsidised fuel, and surface water taxes, are positive and capable of increasing regional income.
