MP Urges Investigation into Collision between Argo Bromo Train and KRL in East Bekasi
JAKARTA - A Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Saadiah Uluputty, has expressed deep concern over the accident involving the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi on Monday night (27/4/2026). She stated that the train accident must be a matter of attention for all parties in its investigation process. “We share the grief and extend our condolences to the victims. This incident must be taken seriously by all parties,” said Saadiah in her statement on Tuesday (28/4/2026). “We urge a thorough investigation into this incident so that the cause is clear and can be held accountable,” added Saadiah. Passenger safety, according to Saadiah, must be the top priority in public transportation operations, especially railways. “Passenger safety must be the top priority, and we hope such incidents do not happen again in the future. Accidents like this are very fatal and dangerous to passenger safety,” said Saadiah. For information, the incident is suspected to have begun with a green taxi being hit by the KRL at the railway crossing. After that train was evacuated, a follow-up incident occurred. The second accident happened when the KRL heading to Jakarta-Cikarang was stopped at Bekasi Timur Station. At the same time, the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek from Surabaya collided with the KRL trainset on Monday night (27/4/2026). “I am updating the number of victims from the train accident last night. Seven people died, and 81 were injured and receiving treatment,” said Bobby at Bekasi Timur Station on Tuesday (28/4/2026). The victim evacuation process was carried out carefully by a joint team, including Basarnas, at the scene. In addition, the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek trainset has also been evacuated from the collision site. “Train operations, although the Commuter Line cannot yet be operated for boarding and alighting at Bekasi Timur Station, for the Commuter Line we have limited it to Bekasi Station,” he explained.
