MP Urges Implementation of Mecca Route Services at BIJB Kertajati
Majalengka (ANTARA) - Member of the House of Representatives Commission VIII, Selly Andriany Gantina, is pushing for the implementation of Mecca Route services at West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati in Majalengka, West Java, to enhance the smoothness of departures for prospective Hajj pilgrims.
“Up to this moment, everything is running well, but our note is that moving forward, from Kertajati Embarkation Airport, there must be Mecca Route services,” Selly said at BIJB Kertajati in Majalengka on Wednesday.
She stated that Mecca Route services are considered important to shorten immigration processes, particularly when prospective Hajj pilgrims arrive at Madinah Airport in Saudi Arabia.
With this service, Selly said, each prospective pilgrim can proceed directly to buses and hotels without going through immigration check queues.
She explained that currently, prospective Hajj pilgrims from Kertajati Embarkation still have to undergo immigration checks upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.
“This is my note so that the Mecca Route pattern is not only implemented in the four embarkations that have already been running, but can be carried out in several other embarkations,” she said.
On the other hand, she conveyed that the departure of the first batch from Kertajati Embarkation for this year’s Hajj season ran smoothly.
She mentioned that the total number of prospective pilgrims departed reached around 445 people, and the event was also attended by the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, as a form of government support.
Selly assured that overall, services for prospective pilgrims from the dormitories to the airport processes have run as expected.
In addition, she said, the service coverage area has also increased to 19 regencies and cities in West Java from previously around 10 areas.
Nuril added that in the future, the potential for adding areas is still open along with the near completion of the Hajj Dormitory construction in Indramayu and supported by the airport’s capacity to serve up to 18 aircraft movements per hour.
“So what friends need to know is that our Notification Airport Capacity (NAC), or the airport’s capacity in serving flights, we can reach 18 movements per hour (take-off/landing),” she said.
