JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives Commission I, Yulius Setiarto, has emphasised that the trial process for the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus must be capable of uncovering the intellectual actors behind the incident.

According to him, the legal process must not stop at the field perpetrators alone but should trace the possibility of orders to the TNI soldiers who are suspects, or the involvement of other parties.

“In my view, the trial must comprehensively trace the possibility of orders, directives, or involvement of other parties behind the action,” Yulius told Kompas.com on Thursday (16/4/2026).

Furthermore, Yulius continued, uncovering the intellectual actors is important to ensure justice for the victim as well as to prevent similar cases from recurring in the future.

“This clarity is important, not only to uphold justice for the victim, but also to prevent similar practices from recurring in the future,” Yulius explained.

According to him, without adequate protection, it is difficult to expect an honest and thorough legal process.

“I assess that the state has an absolute obligation to guarantee the security of Andrie Yunus, his family, and the witnesses who will provide testimony in the trial,” he concluded.

The Jakarta Military Prosecutor II-07 has charged four TNI soldiers with layered articles. The charges applied include:

Article 469 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years as the primary charge; Article 48 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c with a maximum of 8 years as the subsidiary charge; Article 467 paragraph (1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c with a maximum of 7 years as the next subsidiary charge.

“The case file has met the formal and material requirements so that we can process it and it becomes the prosecutor’s opinion minutes and the legal opinion letter from the Head of the Military Legal Corps,” said the Head of the Jakarta Military Prosecutor II-07, Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) Andri Wijaya, during a press conference at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 on Thursday morning.

The cardboard box was carried by two TNI members to be handed over to the court as part of the trial process.

In addition to the case file, the Military Prosecutor also submitted evidence items, the suspects, and eight witnesses consisting of five military members and three civilians.

This case involves four TNI BAIS soldiers, namely Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetia (NDP), First Lieutenant Sami Lakka (SL), First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi (BHW), and Sergeant Edi Sudarko (ES).
