MP States 'Sekolah Rakyat' Produces Great Generations
Surabaya (ANTARA) - Member of the House of Representatives (DPR), Bambang Haryo Soekartono, stated that the existence of the Integrated People’s School (SRT) 2 Surabaya is capable of opening educational access for children from low-income families while simultaneously preparing a great generation.
“Children studying in this people’s school possess great potential,” he remarked during a visit to SRT 2 Kalikedinding, Surabaya, East Java, on Friday.
The presence of SRT serves as national capital in preparing a great generation towards the 2036 demographic bonus and Golden Indonesia 2045.
This People’s School currently accommodates approximately 370 out of a planned 1,000 students.
He assessed that the students demonstrate extraordinary intelligence and enthusiasm for learning, which necessitates continuous support through adequate educational facilities.
Bambang expressed his appreciation for the government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto for realising the People’s School programme as an effort to improve the quality of human resources.
One high-achieving senior high school student at SRT, Airin, expressed her gratitude for being able to study at the school, as her family previously lacked the funds to afford private education.
Another high-achieving student, Zahra Talia, admitted she was on the verge of dropping out of school because her family could not afford the costs.
“At that time, I almost dropped out because my parents were unable to afford it, then I was offered a place in the people’s school. I am thankful to be able to study for free with complete facilities,” she said.
The Head of SRT 2 Surabaya, Prapti Wardani, stated that the visit ensured the implementation of the People’s School in Surabaya is proceeding well, including the condition of the infrastructure and facilities.
“We are very proud of the children. He (MP Bambang Haryo Soekartono) was able to provide motivation to the students here to continue studying to become successful individuals,” she said.
