MP Questions Why Pemuda Pancasila is More Famous than BPIP

The public seems to lack understanding of BPIP or the values of Pancasila. I, as the Head, would like to ask if there is any connection between BPIP and the Pemuda Pancasila organisation? Because, frankly, in society, Pemuda Pancasila is more famous than BPIP, said Edison during a meeting at Commission XIII of the DPR in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (13/4/2026).

Edison stated that many members of the public, including community leaders, actually turn to Pemuda Pancasila for assistance. According to him, there is a widespread perception that both are similarly tied to Pancasila.

Many community leaders in our society seek help from Pemuda Pancasila; in the field, it’s like that, so it seems as though BPIP and Pemuda Pancasila are both about Pancasila, right? So, BPIP shouldn’t lose out in appeal to this Pemuda Pancasila organisation, he said.

He even questioned again the contributions and relationship between Pemuda Pancasila and BPIP.

This is our input, so moving forward, the implementation of BPIP does seem a bit contradictory. I think, what is the connection or contribution between Pemuda Pancasila and BPIP? This, Mr Head, he remarked.

PDIP Considers it Satire.

Subsequently, member of DPR RI Commission XIII Ahmad Basarah responded specifically to Edison Sitorus’s statement. He regarded it as a satirical remark.

We have all heard and listened to what was reported by Brother Head of BPIP, and I have heard and listened to the responses, suggestions, questions, and criticisms from members of Commission XIII of the DPR, including the last statement and question from my friend Mr Sitorus about why Pemuda Pancasila is more well-known than BPIP—that was a satirical question, said Basarah.

Basarah then alluded to the founding years of Pemuda Pancasila and BPIP. He noted that Pemuda Pancasila has been established for 68 years, whereas BPIP is only nine years old.

Although numerically it can be answered by the timeline of Pemuda Pancasila’s founding in 1959, meaning it has been 68 years old, Mr Sitorus. BPIP was born in 2017 when the President issued the Presidential Decree on UKPIP, and a year later, Presidential Regulation 7 of 2018 was issued, transforming the UKPIP institution into BPIP, so relatively, its age is nine years, he said.

Nevertheless, Basarah understood what Edison meant. But I don’t think that’s the intent of Mr Sitorus’s statement and question; what he means is how the existence of the BPIP institution fits into the landscape of state institutions, he added.
