MP Praises TNI Intelligence Chief's Resignation, Highlights Integrity in Duty

Jakarta – A member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), TB Hasanuddin, stated that Lieutenant General TNI Yudi Abrimantyo, the Head of the TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), who resigned from his position following the controversy over the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, serves as a good example. According to him, when subordinates commit violations, Yudi Abrimantyo demonstrated a high level of moral responsibility. The stance of the Kabais is commendable as it sets an example in showing accountability and integrity in carrying out duties. “This is a good example and hopefully it can be emulated by us all,” said TB Hasanuddin in Jakarta on Thursday, 26 March 2026. However, he emphasised that the resignation must not stop the process of law enforcement. Hasanuddin called for the investigation into the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus to continue thoroughly and transparently. According to him, the investigation must be pursued, not only regarding the on-the-ground perpetrators but also tracing the actors who planned or were behind the incident. “This is important to avoid raising questions and disappointment among the public,” he said. In addition, he conveyed that the DPR RI has a supervisory role, including through intelligence oversight teams or mechanisms that must work diligently to ensure this case is open and clear to the public. Previously, TNI Headquarters stated that the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), held by Lieutenant General TNI Yudi Abrimantyo, has been handed over, as a result of the investigation into the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. However, the TNI has not yet explained the matter in detail. “So we need to state here, as a form of accountability, today the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out,” said the Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre (Kapuspen) Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 25 March 2026.
