MP Praises Prabowo's Speech, Says Government Building Foundations
Member of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) from the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction, Dr KH Maman Imanulhaq, has praised the performance report speech delivered by President Prabowo Subianto at the 2026 MPR Annual Session in Jakarta. According to Maman, the speech illustrated that the government is building foundations for a long-term development agenda.
He noted that while several achievements deserve appreciation, the government still faces significant challenges, particularly regarding public purchasing power, job creation, equitable development, and the effectiveness of various government programmes.
“The measure of the government’s success is ultimately not the length of the list of achievements, but how real the sense of welfare and justice is felt by the people,” Maman said on Friday.
Maman assessed that the performance report was quite strong as it demonstrated a clear direction for the government, from maintaining stability and continuing development to addressing issues faced by society.
“The important thing is to ensure that the entire bureaucracy maintains consistency between the vision, policies, and results that are truly felt by the public,” he elaborated.
Maman also appreciated Prabowo’s calm demeanour in facing various criticisms circulating on social media. He believes this steadfastness reflects a leadership style that is not easily swayed by the dynamics of public opinion.
“The President must not make social media opinion the sole measure in making policy. Criticism must be heard, but state decisions must be based on data, the people’s interests, the constitution, and a long-term vision,” he stressed.
Regarding the President’s delivery style, which was considered more textbook and lacking in improvisation, Maman viewed it as a political communication choice. He noted that a state address requires precision of message, caution, and consistency in conveying the government’s policy direction.
“However, going forward, it will be stronger if substantive firmness is combined with a personal touch and improvisation, so that the President’s message feels closer to the emotions and experiences of the people,” he concluded.
