Coincidentally, I am in Commission VII, which covers SMEs, tourism, the creative economy, and industry. These four sectors are key to empowering the people’s economy. Hopefully, with future collaboration, I can contribute to developing the economy of the faithful together with NU and Muhammadiyah.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VII, Hendry Munief, stated that the Islamic community organisations Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) need to collaborate to unite the potential of the faithful in order to empower the economy.

He said that both organisations are the largest religious organisations in Indonesia. They, he added, also focus on developing the economy of the faithful because the charitable enterprises of both organisations have spread evenly across various sectors.

“Coincidentally, I am in Commission VII, which covers SMEs, tourism, the creative economy, and industry. These four sectors are key to empowering the people’s economy. Hopefully, with future collaboration, I can contribute to developing the economy of the faithful together with NU and Muhammadiyah,” said Hendry in a written statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

He conveyed this during a visit to the Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Leadership Council (PW NU) and the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership Council (PWM) of Riau Province. He also discussed and exchanged ideas regarding the development of services to the faithful.

According to him, such visits are important because, as a member of the House of Representatives, it is an obligation to gather various aspirations from the community to be advocated in Senayan.

“In the context of the Eid momentum, we took the opportunity to discuss many things, especially sharpening our focus on developing the economy of the faithful,” he said.
