JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A member of the House of Representatives Commission III, Abdullah, has emphasised that no online gambling (judol) networks should operate in Indonesia, whether on an international or national scale.

The statement was made by Abdullah following the exposure of an international judol case by the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, which arrested hundreds of foreign nationals (WNA) in West Jakarta.

“No more online gambling networks, whether international or national, should operate in Indonesia,” Abdullah told Kompas.com on Monday (11/5/2026).

However, he encouraged continued law enforcement efforts to dismantle other judol networks in the country.

“Dismantle the other judol networks. All judol networks must be arrested and processed according to applicable law,” he explained.

“Online gambling crimes are currently carried out with increasingly advanced technological support. Therefore, law enforcement apparatus must continue to enhance their capacity, digital capabilities, and technological mastery to stay one step ahead of the perpetrators,” he stated.

The PKB politician reiterated that the state must not lose to digital criminals, as judol has caused significant social impacts in society.

“The state must not lose to digital criminals. Online gambling has destroyed many families, caused social problems, and threatened the future of the younger generation. Therefore, its eradication must be a collective priority,” Abdullah concluded.

A day after the arrests, the police revealed that the 320 individuals secured were foreign nationals, and their detention was handed over to the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.

The hundreds of foreign nationals consisted of 228 Vietnamese, 57 Chinese, 13 Myanmar nationals, 11 Laotians, five Thais, three Malaysians, and three Cambodians.

Meanwhile, one other person is an Indonesian citizen (WNI) and is now being further processed by the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency. The Indonesian national is known to have been involved in an international judol network in Cambodia.
