MP: Law Enforcement Must Be Fair and Equitable Up to the Borders
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission III, Rizki Faisal, stated that law enforcement must be fair and equitable, including for communities living in island and border regions.
To ensure this, according to him, a digital-based Legal Aid Institute (LBH) needs to be established as a strategic solution to address geographical challenges in island areas.
“Communities in the outermost islands also have the right to equal access to justice,” said Rizki at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday.
Through a digital system, he believes people can obtain legal consultations, case assistance, and reporting quickly without being hindered by distance to reach service centres.
He also claimed to have conveyed the proposal for that digital system in various official meetings with local governments and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
In addition to the digital aspect, he is also promoting a “proactive outreach” method through integrated mobile services. According to him, legal services up to border areas must be carried out to strengthen the state’s presence on the front lines.
For that idea, he received an award in the KWP Award 2026 from the Parliamentary Journalists Coordinating Body (KWP) for promoting access to justice for remote communities.
The award event was held to appreciate the performance of people’s representatives who provide impact to society through their legislative and oversight functions.
Meanwhile, DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said that the award event could serve as a bridge between the parliamentary building and the world of journalism to convey the results already achieved by parliament, not only the DPR RI but also the MPR RI and DPD RI.
“So that those policies can be conveyed through the everyday language of the people, so that the people understand the content of all the policies we carry out,” said Puan.
