Jakarta (ANTARA) - A member of the House of Representatives Commission III, Abdullah, stated that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) must explain in detail the controversy surrounding the transfer of detention for the suspect in the alleged Hajj quota corruption case, who is former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

He assessed that there are still many questions that need to be explained to the public. The KPK, he said, must be open about the process of transferring from detention facility (rutan) to house arrest, and then back to the detention facility.

“The process of transferring from detention facility to house arrest and back to the detention facility cannot be sufficiently explained simply because there was a request from the family,” said Abdullah when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, the anti-corruption agency must also explain the supervision carried out when Yaqut was under house arrest. It should not be the case, he said, that the response is merely due to public spotlight.

“Thus, the term ‘no viral, no justice’ that is currently circulating in society can be avoided,” he said.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed the reason for returning Yaqut to the state detention facility or rutan after the suspect in the alleged Hajj quota corruption case had been placed under house arrest.

“First, because tomorrow there is a scheduled request for information from the individual,” said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.

On 17 March 2026, Yaqut’s family requested the KPK to allow the former Minister of Religious Affairs to be under house arrest. The KPK then granted the request, and Yaqut has been under house arrest since 19 March 2026.

On 23 March 2026, the KPK announced that it was processing the transfer of Yaqut’s detention from house arrest back to the detention facility. On 24 March 2026, Yaqut arrived at the KPK’s Red and White Building and was then placed in the detention facility.
