JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Yudha Novanza Utama considers the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) into irregularities in the assignment of ratings under the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) for games on the Steam platform to be an important moment.

According to him, the currently ongoing investigation can sustainably strengthen the national game rating system.

“I express my full and firm support for the steps taken by the Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Komdigi, which is conducting an investigation process to ensure that the age classification system operates accurately and consistently,” Yudha said in Jakarta on Friday (10/4/2026).

Furthermore, according to him, strengthening supervision over the self-assessment process carried out by game developers is important.

Without adequate controls, according to him, this mechanism has the potential to cause discrepancies in content assessments.

This integration is considered important so that Indonesian content assessment standards can align with the international ecosystem.

“The age classification system is an important part of efforts to protect society, especially children, from exposure to inappropriate content,” he said.

This momentum, he said, is expected to further strengthen public trust, while encouraging the creation of a healthy, safe, and responsible digital ecosystem in Indonesia.

“This is not just about regulation, but also about collective responsibility in creating a healthy digital ecosystem,” he said.

Director of Digital Ecosystem Development at Komdigi, Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, said that his side acknowledges there are games with IGRS ratings that do not match their content.

For example, the game PUBG received a 3+ rating, while the game Upin Ipin Universe is intended for ages 18+.

“This is very strange to us and very irregular, which is why we are conducting this investigation to determine what the actual problem is, both internally at Komdigi and externally from the Steam side,” Sonny said at the Komdigi Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
