MP Highlights Poor Condition of KUA Bulu, Pushes for Budget Increase
Wakil Ketua Komisi VIII DPR RI Singgih Januratmoko has highlighted the poor condition of the Bulu District Religious Affairs Office (KUA) in Sukoharjo Regency during a working visit on Tuesday (4/8/2026). He stated that KUA, as the frontline institution for religious services and community guidance, must receive more serious attention, both in terms of infrastructure and the welfare of its staff.
The Bulu KUA was chosen as the visit location because it is situated in the southernmost part of Sukoharjo Regency and is one of the offices requiring significant structural improvements. During the visit, Singgih engaged in dialogue with officials from the Sukoharjo Ministry of Religious Affairs and local marriage officiants to understand the challenges faced on the ground.
Muhammad Safi’i, Head of Islamic Community Guidance at the Sukoharjo Regency Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, explained that the Bulu KUA has 14 employees, all of whom are civil servants. However, because the land remains a regional government asset, construction using the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ building development budget is hindered. ‘We hope for a joint solution. Because the land still belongs to the regional government, the construction of a new building through the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ budget cannot yet proceed. Yet the condition of the Bulu KUA requires attention so that public services can be improved,’ he said. He revealed that the building’s condition is quite concerning, with fragile roofing and ceilings that have previously suffered damage. The document storage room for marriage certificates is also very limited and does not yet meet national archive security standards.
