MP: Hajj Bus Accident Serves as Reminder to Oversee Additional Agendas
Safety of pilgrims must remain the priority in every activity, whether facilitated by the government or additional events.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VIII, Dini Rahmania, stated that the accident experienced by the Hajj pilgrims’ bus during a trip to Jabal Magnet in Saudi Arabia serves as a reminder for all parties to enhance supervision of additional agendas.
“Pilgrim safety must remain the priority in every activity, whether facilitated by the government or additional events,” Dini said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
She explained that the government has essentially facilitated pilgrimage activities as part of pilgrim services, including visits to Masjid Quba, Masjid Qiblatain, and the Jabal Uhud area.
In this regard, she stated that Hajj Worship Guidance Groups (KBIH) need to ensure and take responsibility for aspects of security, safety, transport suitability, and pilgrim accompaniment.
Regarding the incident, she expressed concern and serious attention to ensure no more accidents befall pilgrim groups in activities outside the official Hajj 2026 arrangements.
“This serves as a reminder for all parties to increase caution and supervision, so that every activity joined by pilgrims remains safe and does not pose risks,” she said.
Based on a press release received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday, there were no fatalities in the incident.
There were 10 injured victims; seven from JHI Cluster JKS-1 suffered minor injuries and have received treatment from the medical team, and they have now returned to Hotel Andalus Golden. Meanwhile, three victims are from Cluster SUB-2.
After receiving medical treatment, two were allowed to return, while one 60-year-old pilgrim is still undergoing medical observation at Al-Hayyat Quba Hospital.
