MP: Events Must Be Rooted in Sustainable Humanitarian Values
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of House of Representatives Commission VII Novita Hardini has emphasised the importance of adopting a paradigm where high-quality national events must not merely pursue excitement but be rooted in humanitarian values, environmental sustainability, and local economic benefits.
Novita asserted that in the modern era, the success of an event is no longer measured solely by technical achievements or good documentation. A great event is one that leaves a profound impression on the hearts of the people and delivers tangible, sustainable impacts.
“Events are spaces for human interaction. Places where stories, hopes, inspirations, and togetherness are born. We want to present events that do not excessively consume resources, care for the environment, and empower local communities,” said Novita in her statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
The statement was delivered by Novita in her opening remarks at the Capacity Building for Quality National Events Based on Village Tourism activity held at Taman Jatimori, Ponorogo, on Sunday.
This young politician also highlighted the concept of humane events, where the community is not just positioned as spectators. She encouraged organisers to involve small-scale MSME actors, local artists, and behind-the-scenes workers as the main pillars of the event’s success.
“A humane event is one that brings feeling. When an event is organised with heart, its positive energy will be felt by many people and become a social investment for the future,” she stated.
Through this capacity building, Novita hopes that tourism village movers in Magetan Regency and surrounding areas can create inclusive, safe, and creative growth spaces. This is expected to be a concrete step in strengthening the tourism sector and people-based creative economy.
The event was also attended by representatives from the Deputy Assistant for National Events of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Ponorogo Regency Tourism Office, and experts from the Jember Fashion Carnival Foundation (JFC).
