MP: BPIP Must Not Lose Coolness to Pemuda Pancasila
JAKARTA - An MP from Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the PAN faction, Edison Sitorus, questioned the relationship between the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) and the community organisation (ormas) Pemuda Pancasila. This is because BPIP’s existence in society is still considered far less prominent than that of Pemuda Pancasila. “I would like to ask, Sir Head, is there any connection between BPIP and the Pemuda Pancasila ormas because, frankly, in society, Pemuda Pancasila is more famous than BPIP,” said Edison during a meeting with BPIP at Commission XIII of DPR RI, Jakarta, on Monday (13/4/2026). The PAN politician asked that BPIP should not lose its coolness to Pemuda Pancasila. “So it seems that between BPIP and Pemuda Pancasila, both are about Pancasila, right? Well, BPIP itself must not lose coolness to this Pemuda Pancasila ormas,” he stated. Additionally, a similar spotlight was given by an MP from Commission XIII of DPR RI from the PDI-P faction, Ahmad Basarah, who called Edison’s question a satirical one. Statistically, according to Basarah, the question can be answered because the Pemuda Pancasila ormas has existed since 1959, while BPIP was only established in 2018. However, Basarah said that the intent of Edison’s statement was not about time, but about the role and existence of BPIP.
