Jakarta – A member of Commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Dewi Yustisiana, has expressed appreciation for the steps taken by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) alongside PT PLN (Persero) in expanding electricity access through the Village Electrification Programme, which continues to reach remote areas and 3T regions.

Dewi conveyed this appreciation while attending the inauguration of electricity provision in Desa Sungai Jeruju, Cengal Subdistrict, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency (OKI), South Sumatra, as part of the DPR RI’s recess activities.

She noted that Desa Sungai Jeruju had previously been a relatively isolated area with difficult access, meaning the community could only experience electricity supply now after the programme’s implementation.

“This serves as concrete proof that the state is present even in areas that have been hard to reach until now. We appreciate the commitment of the Ministry of ESDM and PLN in continuously promoting village electrification equity, so that communities in places like Sungai Jeruju can finally enjoy electricity,” Dewi stated in a written remark on Monday, 4 May 2026.

According to her, the presence of electricity in the area does not only bring lighting but also serves as a starting point for enhancing community economic activities, easier access to education, and overall improvement in quality of life.

The Golkar Party politician emphasised that the village electrification programme is part of the government’s strategic policy that needs to be continuously expanded, especially for areas that have long faced energy access limitations due to geographical conditions.

“Commission XII of the DPR RI will continue to monitor to ensure this programme runs consistently and reaches more remote areas. Energy equity becomes an important foundation in ensuring equitable development throughout Indonesia,” she added.
