MP: AHY's Political Speech Demonstrates Motivation and Commitment to Support President Prabowo's Administration
Members of the Democratic Party have welcomed the political speech delivered by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurly Yudhoyono (AHY), during the peak of the party’s 25th anniversary celebrations at GBK, Senayan, Jakarta, on 9 September. The speech delivered by AHY served as motivation and encouragement for the Democratic Party’s members serving in both the government and the legislature.
This was stated by Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Bambang Purwanto to journalists following the event. The lawmaker from the Central Kalimantan constituency noted that in his address, AHY was not only thinking of the party cadres but also for the greater good of the Indonesian nation. “Mr AHY is thinking long-term, ensuring that cadres continue to work hard to ensure the success of the Prabowo Subianto administration,” asserted the former Regent of Kotawaringin Barat.
“The Chairman’s speech at the 25th Anniversary of the Democratic Party was visionary, ranging from motivating the struggle of officials and cadres to the Democratic Party’s commitment to economic growth, justice, and democracy,” he explained.
Furthermore, the speech by AHY was a historic moment as it marked the Silver Jubilee. “The speech and his direction provide the best gift to the cadres to boost the spirit of struggle for the Democratic Party,” he said.
Bambang added that during his address, AHY repeatedly emphasised the Democratic Party’s position within President Prabowo Subianto’s government. He noted that AHY firmly instructed cadres to continue supporting the President’s programmes at the central, provincial, and regency levels.
“As cadres, we continue to follow the Chairman’s direction on how to work for the good of the people. It is not easy for Mr AHY because on one hand, he carries the party’s mandate, but on the other, he serves as a coalition partner within the Red and White Cabinet,” he remarked.
Consequently, his message urged Democratic Party cadres to remain solid in supporting President Prabowo’s government. “That commitment is ultimately aimed at fighting for the interests of the Indonesian people to ensure prosperity. Therefore, it is necessary to boost the spirit of the cadres so they are more diligent in assisting and serving the community.”
President Prabowo Subianto appreciated the speech by Democratic Chairman AHY as a form of commitment to cooperation for the people and highlighted the importance of criticism within a democracy. President Prabowo also praised the political maturity of the Democratic Party, which remains friendly despite its position, as an example of Indonesian democracy.
President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the Democratic Party and SBY from the 2019 to 2024 elections during the 25th-anniversary celebrations. Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of NasDem, Saan Mustopa, requested that AHY and the leaders of coalition political parties maintain political narratives to ensure the stability of the Prabowo administration.
