Metro Jaya Police have revealed the timeline of surveillance conducted by the perpetrators of an acid attack against Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS).

Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Brigadier General Iman Imanuddin, stated that all four suspected perpetrators were recorded on CCTV departing from the South Jakarta area.

Subsequently, Iman mentioned that the perpetrators gathered first at Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur (East Merdeka Road) or in front of Gambir Station, Central Jakarta.

“The movements of these perpetrators were from the South Jakarta area towards the initial gathering point on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur or around the front of Gambir Station,” he stated during a press conference on Monday (16 March).

In the afternoon, he said, the perpetrators were recorded beginning to move towards Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat (West Merdeka Road). They then circled around the Tugu Tani monument area.

Iman mentioned that the surveillance process continued as the perpetrators moved towards the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI). He stated that the perpetrators waited for the victim until the victim left and headed to Cikini Petrol Station.

“When the victim finished the event at YLBHI, the victim did not directly proceed to the location of the incident but first refuelled at Cikini Raya Petrol Station, and this was followed by the perpetrators,” he said.

Iman explained that the perpetrators were also recorded on CCTV in the petrol station area whilst following Andrie Yunus at approximately 11:32 pm to 11:35 pm.

“At approximately 23:32 or 23:35, the suspected perpetrators were seen at Cikini Raya Petrol Station,” he stated.

He said the perpetrators then waited for the victim in front of KFC Cikini with two different motorcycles. After the victim refuelled, the perpetrators immediately moved towards Jalan Diponegoro before turning towards Jalan Salemba 1, which became the location of the acid attack.

“During the incident at approximately 23:37 on Thursday, 12 March 2026 at Jalan Salemba 1 intersection with Jalan Talang, in Central Jakarta,” he explained.

Previously, Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), became a victim of an acid attack in the Central Jakarta area on Thursday night (12 March).

KontraS Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya stated that the incident occurred after Andrie Yunus attended a podcast event titled “Remilitarisation and Judicial Review in Indonesia” at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office at approximately 11:00 pm.

“He suffered an acid attack by an Unknown Person (OTK) that resulted in serious injuries across his body, particularly on both hands, face, chest, and eye area,” he said in a written statement on Friday (13 March).

Following the incident, Andrie was immediately taken to hospital for medical treatment. From examination results, Andrie sustained burns covering 24 percent of his body.

Dimas also revealed the characteristics of the suspected first perpetrator, who was wearing a white-blue combination t-shirt, dark-coloured trousers believed to be jeans, and a black helmet.

Meanwhile, the second perpetrator, who was the motorcycle passenger, wore a face covering or mask resembling a black ‘buff’ that covered half the face, a dark blue t-shirt, and blue long trousers that were rolled up short and believed to be made of denim.
