Mount Rinjani Receives 1,505 Climbers During Long Holiday
The total number of visitors during the long holiday consisted of 965 domestic and 540 international tourists.
Mataram (ANTARA) - The Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR) recorded that the number of visitors climbing Mount Rinjani in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), reached 1,505 during the long holiday in mid-May 2026.
“The number of visitors to Mount Rinjani during the long holiday from May 14-16, 2026, reached 1,505 climbers, both domestic and international tourists,” said the Head of the Administration Sub-section at TNGR NTB, Astekita, in Mataram, Sunday.
He said that on May 14, the number of visitors climbing was recorded at 587 people, on May 15 it was recorded at 453 people, and on May 16 it was recorded at 466 people.
“So, the total number of visitors during the long holiday consists of 965 domestic tourists and 540 international tourists,” he said.
“When compared to visitor data from last week which reached 1,216 people, the number of visitors during this long weekend has increased,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of TNGR NTB, Budhy Kurniawan, said that the construction of rest shelters on the Mount Rinjani climbing trails is part of an effort to improve facilities and climber safety in the Mount Rinjani National Park area.
“This shelter is designed with a strong structure, ergonomic design, and will be equipped with solar panels to support environmentally friendly energy needs on the climbing trail,” he said.
More than just a place to rest, this rest shelter is a form of commitment to providing a better climbing experience without neglecting the preservation of nature in Rinjani.
“Let’s work together to maintain the facilities that are built, keep the trails clean, and continue to love Rinjani with real actions,” he said.
