The Mount Rinjani National Park Authority (TNGR) has reminded trekking organisers (TOs) not to offer climbing packages to Mount Rinjani for the April 2026 period. This is because the climbing quota for early April 2026 has reached the maximum limit.

TNGR head Budhy Kurniawan revealed that the number of registered TOs currently exceeds 200. All TOs are allocated 60 percent of the daily Rinjani climber quota. He threatened to impose sanctions on naughty TOs that fail to meet standard operating procedures (SOP).

“If we’re talking about TO performance, then if they are caught violating, there will automatically be sanctions according to the SOP,” said Budhy on Saturday (28/3/2026).

Budhy strictly prohibited TOs from offering more quotas to prospective climbers than stipulated by TNGR. He explained that TOs offering Rinjani climbing packages must have a clear office or operational location.

“We are starting to enforce this. We are verifying and assessing,” he added.

Budhy emphasised that determining the climbing quota to the highest peak on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is TNGR’s authority. According to him, TOs offering climbing quotas beyond the provisions constitute a violation.

He urged climbers to remain vigilant against TO tactics offering climbing packages with promises of extra quotas. Budhy stated that climbing tariffs and quotas can be viewed through the E-Rinjani application.

“TOs are not allowed to set ticket prices, but they may set climbing packages because they sell services,” he concluded.
