Mount Karangetang in North Sulawesi Erupts, Spewing Incandescent Material
Mount Karangetang, located on Siau Island in North Sulawesi, erupted on Sunday evening, ejecting incandescent material from its crater. Yudia P. Tatipang, Head of the Karangetang Volcano Observation Post, reported that the explosive eruption occurred at approximately 19:14 local time. βThe eruption was quite strong, followed by the ejection of incandescent material that ignited alang-alang grass around the crater,β Yudia stated. He added that the eruption was directed towards the north and that the glowing debris likely did not reach residential areas. The volcano remains at Alert Level II (Siaga). Officials are urging residents to remain calm and strictly adhere to the published safety recommendations to avoid any unwanted incidents.
