The closure of climbing activities at Mount Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP) has been extended until 12 April 2026.

The closure extension was announced in Circular Letter Number 5 of 2026, shared via the official Instagram account @bbtn_gn_gedepangrango and confirmed directly to Kompas.com by TNGGP Public Relations Officer Agus Denie on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

“Mount Gede Pangrango National Park climbing activities are closed until 12 April 2026,” stated the circular, which was issued on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The closure applies to all climbing access points, including the Cibodas post, Gunung Putri post in Cianjur, and Salabintana post in Sukabumi, with the objective of preserving the natural environment and ensuring climber safety.

The temporary closure has been implemented taking into consideration ecosystem recovery within the national park area.

“Yes, this nature tourism is closed in connection with the first day of Eid al-Fitr,” Agus said, as cited by Kompas.com.

Nature tourism activities at TNGGP will reopen the following day, specifically on 21 March 2026.

For prospective Mount Gede Pangrango climbers who have already registered for the period 1-12 April 2026, they are advised to reschedule or request refunds. This process can be carried out by contacting the service department of TNGGP through the call centre on 0811 915 5815 or via Instagram @bbtn_gn_gedepangrango.
