Mount Bromo Tourism Reopens Today; New Regulations Announced

Mount Bromo’s tourist area has reopened to visitors after the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (BB TNBTS) conducted fire management operations following forest and land fires that had occurred since 10 September 2026.

BB TNBTS has scheduled the reopening of the Bromo tourist area to commence on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at 00:01 WIB.

“This reopening is carried out considering safety, the condition of the area, the sustainability of tourism activities, as well as the socio-economic continuity of the community and tourism service providers,” BB TNBTS wrote on its official Instagram account, as reported on Saturday (19/9/2026).

Although tourism has resumed, BB TNBTS emphasised that visitors must still adhere to several provisions. Tourists are required to comply with visiting regulations and the directions of officers, including any restrictions or access controls in specific locations depending on the area’s condition.

Visitors are also prohibited from engaging in activities that could trigger fires. These prohibitions include making campfires or hearths, burning anything, and discarding cigarette butts, matches, or other items that could potentially serve as fire sources.

BB TNBTS also requested that tourists maintain cleanliness, order, security, and the preservation of the area. Visitors are not permitted to interfere with ongoing monitoring, patrolling, security, or fire management activities.

Furthermore, tourists are urged to prioritise safety, pay attention to weather conditions, and follow official instructions should field conditions change.

BB TNBTS has asked the public to immediately report to officers if they discover smoke, embers, hotspots, or any other conditions that could potentially trigger a fire. Visitors are also encouraged to participate in preventing further fires.

For tourists who already hold Bromo visit tickets for the period of 19-30 September 2026, BB TNBTS has confirmed that these tickets remain valid for the dates specified.

Tourists do not need to purchase new tickets; however, existing tickets cannot be rescheduled or refunded.
