Mount Bromo Fully Closed, 2,056 Tourists Request Refunds

A total of 2,056 tourists have applied for refunds for Mount Bromo entry tickets following the total closure of the area. The move comes as forest and land fires continue to spread across the region in recent days. Endrip Wahyutama, Public Relations Officer for the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority, stated that the thousands of tourists seeking ticket refunds comprised 1,944 domestic visitors and 112 foreign nationals, recorded from Sunday (9/8) to Wednesday (12/8). In addition to refunds, 32 domestic tourists have requested to reschedule their visits to Mount Bromo, while no foreign tourists have opted for this process. Overall, the number of tourists planning to visit the Mount Bromo area during the period of 9-15 August reached 3,062, consisting of 2,671 domestic and 391 foreign visitors. Endrip noted that 974 tourists have not yet applied for ticket refunds, including 695 domestic visitors and 279 foreign nationals. The refund and rescheduling process is conducted by filling out a form available at https://bit.ly/form-refund-reschedule-karhutla-bromo. The National Park Authority enforced a total closure of all entry points to Mount Bromo—Cemorolawang in Probolinggo Regency, Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency, Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang Regency, and Senduro in Lumajang Regency—on Saturday (8/8) at 22.00 WIB. The decision was made after the fire crossed the Tengger Caldera Rim Road from the direction of Jantur Hill and burned savanna areas. The measure was taken in response to developments on the ground to enhance firefighting effectiveness while considering the safety and security of visitors.
