Mount Bromo Completely Closed Due to Forest Fire, Tickets Can Be Refunded

The Mount Bromo tourist area has been completely closed following a spreading forest fire within the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS). Management is providing options for rescheduling or refunds for visitors who have already purchased tickets. The closure is enforced at all entry points to the TNBTS area, namely Cemorolawang, Wonokitri, Jemplang, Coban Trisula, and Senduro. The policy took effect on Saturday (8/8/2026) at 22.00 WIB until an unspecified time. ‘For visitors who have purchased entry tickets through the online booking application for visits during the closure period, they will be given the opportunity to reschedule or receive a refund,’ said Head of the TNBTS Central Office Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, as reported by detikJatim on Sunday (9/8/2026). The process for submitting a reschedule or refund can be done by filling out a special form provided by the management. Information and instructions for filling out the form will be sent directly by the admin officer of the booking portal. ‘Visitors simply need to complete the form we send via the TNBTS online booking application admin,’ Rudijanta explained. TNBTS emphasised that the access closure is purely for visitor safety and to facilitate the firefighting teams in the caldera area. The fire extinguishing process is currently still being intensified.
