Tourism activities in the Mount Bromo area and surrounding regions will be fully closed from 30 May to 2 June 2026. Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, Head of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BB TNBTS), announced the total closure to ensure the smooth conduct of the 2026 Yadnya Kasada ritual. ‘The Mount Bromo area and surroundings will be closed to tourism activities from Saturday, 30 May 2026 at 00:00 WIB until Tuesday, 2 June 2026 at 23:59 WIB,’ he said, as quoted by detikcom on Monday, 25 May. ‘Access will be strictly controlled during the closure period from 30 May to 1 June 2026, with the Bromo area open only to those participating in the Yadnya Kasada ritual and meeting the required identification criteria,’ he explained. The following day, 2 June, will focus on environmental recovery efforts. ‘On 2 June 2026, the area will be accessible only to the public and officials involved in post-ritual cleanup operations,’ he added. Rudijanta emphasised the importance of preserving the national park’s natural environment after the ceremony. Tourists who had planned visits will find the gates reopened once all ritual activities and cleaning operations are completed.
