Mount Anjing Peak and Lagadar Hills in Bandung Hit by Fires
Mount Anjing in Pameungpeuk District, Bandung Regency, West Java, has caught fire. The flames affected part of the mountain’s peak.
Asep Bintang, Head of the Fire Suppression Division at the Bandung Regency Fire and Rescue Service, explained that the fire area on Mount Anjing is located at the summit and cannot be reached by vehicle or on foot. The burning location is also far from residential areas.
‘For your information, we have referred the handling to the Regional Disaster Management Agency because the area is very remote, and the burning area is far from settlements and residents’ houses, so we are only monitoring it,’ Asep said on Thursday (30/7/2026).
In addition to Mount Anjing, dry land fires during the dry season also occurred in the Cikuya hills area, Lagadar, Margaasih District, Bandung Regency. Footage of the fire went viral on social media.
The affected area is on hills bordering West Bandung Regency. The source of the fire is suspected to be from waste burning that spread to the scrubland.
‘Yes, the fire in Lagadar involved scrubland near a housing estate. Thank God we were able to bring it under control,’ Asep stated.
His department deployed personnel from the Taman Kopo Indah Post and the Soreang Headquarters to extinguish the flames. ‘The area that burned was scrubland. The total area of burnt scrubland was 200 square metres,’ he said.
