Motorists invited in help fight drugs

JAKARTA: Antidrug activists have invited motorists to express their support for the war on drugs by leaving their vehicles' lights on all day on Sunday.

The call was made by the Jakarta Provincial Narcotics Board (BNP Jakarta) and the Cinta Anak Bangsa Foundation (YCAB) as part of an effort to heighten Jakartans' awareness of the dangers of drugs.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the organizers said they would also involve students and TV personalities in the campaign.

The theme of this year event is "Value Yourselves, Make Healthy Choices", which is in line with the theme adopted this year by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

"With selecting this theme, the UN hopes that young people will respect themselves by avoiding drugs and making healthy choices," the organizers said. -- JP
