Motorists Frequently Drive Against Traffic, Badung Transportation Agency and Police Hold Sympathetic Raid

The Badung Transportation Agency (Dishub) together with the police held a joint operation along Jalan Merta Agung, Kerobokan Kelod Village, North Kuta District, on Friday (24/7/2026). This measure was taken due to a surge in public reports regarding motorists who recklessly breach the traffic engineering scheme and drive against the flow from the north. “On Jalan Merta Agung, there are many reports of violators from the north. Road barriers have been installed, but they are still breached,” said the Head of the Patrol Unit of the Badung Police Traffic Unit, Ipda Anak Agung Bagus Hendra Sukmana. Enforcement on the ground was carried out persuasively without imposing fines on traffic rule violators. Officers prioritised an educational approach to provide legal awareness to road users. “So we carry this out by giving sympathetic warning actions so that the public knows that violating the rules is wrong,” said Bagus Hendra. The implementation of traffic engineering in North Kuta District has now been permanently established by the Badung Regency Government. The road arrangement measure has proven to begin unravelling severe congestion points that previously frequently occurred in the Petitenget tourism area. “The results have been felt. So people visiting Petitenget experience smoother traffic than before, this must be maintained,” said the Head of the Badung Transportation Agency, Anak Agung Gde Rahmadi. Rahmadi urged all road users to comply with the engineered routes that have been created for the common good. Badung Transportation Agency officers will routinely go into the field to ensure vehicle flow remains under control. “That is why we are back on the ground carrying out persuasive enforcement. The established traffic engineering routes should be followed, we always remind the public,” said Rahmadi. The awareness and discipline of motorists are the main keys to maintaining traffic order in Bali. A culture of mutual respect among road users is essential to support the comfort of the region’s tourism sector. “The essence of traffic order comes from the culture of the community. We continue to motivate the public to maintain what we have achieved so that tourism to Petitenget remains smooth,” said Rahmadi. This traffic enforcement and education operation will not stop in North Kuta District. The Badung Regency Government plans to hold similar activities periodically at various other congestion-prone points.
