Motorists, beware in Puri Kembangan area

Arriving home from a trip abroad, I took a taxi from the airport toward my residence in western Jakarta through Kamal toll road on May 7, 2001.

It was about 2:30 p.m. when the taxi had a flat tire at Puri Kembangan area. Impulsively, I got out of the taxi to have a look at the flat tire.

When the driver was changing the rear left tire, I was squatting next to him on the ground. At one point I stood up and saw a man at the right rear door of the car clutching my overnight bag he had snatched from the seat in the Silver Bird taxi. He was about to close the door.

Realizing that I was being robbed I made a chase but a friend of his was waiting on a motorbike not far from the taxi. He jumped into the pillion seat of the bike and disappeared in a minute.

A flat tire in Puri Kembangan area could be dangerous for motorists.
