Motorcyclists Gather at Midnight Near Jakarta's Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, Causing Traffic Jams
A group of motorcyclists gathered late at night around the Sarinah area up to the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout in Central Jakarta, causing traffic congestion at the location.
Polda Metro Jaya reported on its X account that on Friday (24/7/2026) at 11.52 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, it dispersed a group of motorcyclists who had gathered in front of Sarinah. In the uploaded photo, the motorcyclists can be seen filling the road.
‘11.52 p.m. Members of the Polda Metro Jaya dispersed a group of motorcyclists who had gathered in front of Sarinah Plaza, occupying three lanes of the road, thus causing congestion and disturbing other road users,’ wrote the TMC Polda Metro account.
The situation continued to the HI Roundabout in Central Jakarta at 12.40 a.m. Western Indonesia Time on Saturday (25/7). Police urged the motorcyclists to leave the location.
‘12.40 a.m. Members of Polda Metro Jaya urged the motorcyclists gathered around the front of the HI Roundabout police post to continue their journey because they could cause congestion and disturb other road users,’ it explained.
Meanwhile, according to Google Maps monitoring at around 3.50 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, traffic conditions were smooth. This was indicated by Jalan MH Thamrin up to Jalan Jenderal Sudirman at the HI Roundabout appearing green on Google Maps.
