Motorcyclist Who Caused Fatal Accident in Bogor Briefly Fled Before Being Apprehended
A motorcyclist with the initials AF, who rode against oncoming traffic and caused a fatal accident in Cibinong, Bogor, West Java, briefly fled the scene after the incident, leaving the victim on the road.
“After the incident, upon seeing the victim lying on the road, the suspect left the scene,” said Bogor Police Traffic Unit Chief Inspector Afif Widhi Ananto on Monday (23/2/2026).
Police immediately pursued the suspect. He was eventually apprehended approximately 500 metres from the accident site.
“Together with members of the public, we managed to pursue the suspect and secure both the suspect and his vehicle at the Cibinong Traffic Accident Unit. He was apprehended around 500 metres from the scene,” he explained.
Police are continuing to question the suspect, including investigating his reasons for fleeing the scene after the accident.
“We are still looking into that matter. What is clear is that the elements relating to negligence causing death and failure to assist the victim have already been included in our investigation,” he said.
Motorcyclist Undergoes Urine Test
The fatal accident case in Cibinong, Bogor, triggered by motorcyclist AF riding against traffic, is under police investigation. AF has undergone a urine test.
“We are looking into it — we have checked his urine, and the alcohol aspect is still being investigated,” said Afif.
AF has been named a suspect and is currently being detained at the police station. The urine test was also conducted to determine whether the suspect had consumed narcotics. Police are additionally investigating whether the suspect was involved in illegal street racing prior to the accident.
“We will certainly carry out those procedures,” he explained.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday (22/2) at 03.00 Western Indonesian Time. A number of witnesses and supporting evidence, including CCTV footage, have been examined by investigators.
