Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Falling from Pesing Flyover

Jakarta (ANTARA) - A motorcyclist named Cahyadi Ramdani was seriously injured after falling from the Pesing Flyover in West Jakarta on Thursday (29 October) evening.

The incident drew attention after a video circulated on Instagram through the account @warga.jakbar. The footage showed the victim’s motorbike still on the flyover while several members of the public gathered to help the rider who had fallen.

West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit Law Enforcement chief AKP Joko Siswanto said the victim was identified as Cahyadi Ramdani and had sustained several injuries.

“Regarding the accident that went viral on social media, the location was the Pesing Flyover towards Grogol. The victim’s name is Cahyadi Ramdani,” Joko said when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

Joko said the victim was taken by ambulance to Cengkareng Regional General Hospital for medical treatment immediately after the incident.

“The victim was taken by ambulance to Cengkareng Regional General Hospital last night. He went home this morning, as he had only bruises on his hands and legs. That is the report,” he said.

However, Joko said the police did not yet know the precise circumstances of the accident because the Traffic Accident Unit had not received a complete official report.

“There was no report to the Traffic Accident Unit, so we don’t have the data,” he said.

Meanwhile, ambulance driver Adit, who took the victim to Cengkareng Regional General Hospital, said information he received from local residents and fellow online motorcycle-taxi drivers suggested the victim may have been drowsy while riding.

“I don’t know the exact circumstances. The residents and the other online motorcycle-taxi drivers know. They said at the scene that he seemed drowsy,” Adit said.

Adit added that when he arrived, the victim was lying on the ground after falling from the flyover, while his motorbike remained on the bridge.

“The motorbike was still up there and, not long after, local residents brought it down,” he said. He added that the victim had injuries to several parts of his body, including his legs, hands and cheek.
