A 24-year-old man identified as SL, from Banyuwangi, East Java, died after being run over by a truck on Cokroaminoto Road in Ubung, Denpasar, on Sunday evening (31 May 2026). Putu Darma Putra, operator of BPBD Denpasar’s Pusdalops, said the accident report was received by volunteers at 11:59 PM WITA.

“A local resident contacted Bali PMI about an accident on Cokroaminoto Road south of McDonald’s, which was then relayed to BPBD Denpasar with the same details,” Darma stated on Monday (1 June 2026).

Upon receiving the report, BPBD Denpasar’s Pantastis ambulance, Namru Bali volunteers, Bali Ambulance, and Denpasar Traffic Police responded to the scene. Upon arrival, a crowd had already gathered. The victim was confirmed dead with severe head injuries.

“Afterwards, the body was transported to Sanglah Hospital’s morgue. The victim was found face-down with significant facial and ear injuries,” Darma explained.

According to witness accounts, the victim was riding a Honda Stylo motorcycle (DK 4832 AFJ) as a passenger. CCTV footage showed the victim suddenly falling and being run over by the truck, while the motorcycle driver survived.

“Family members have been notified and viewed the body at the hospital. The corpse was repatriated to Banyuwangi this morning,” Darma added.

Meanwhile, Denpasar Traffic Police are pursuing the truck driver responsible. “An investigation is ongoing,” said Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, Head of Public Relations at Denpasar City Police.
