A motorcyclist has fallen from the Pesing flyover in West Jakarta in the latest accident at a site known for frequent crashes.

Last year, a 49-year-old motorcyclist identified only as K died after colliding with a lorry in the area. “The motorcyclist died,” said AKP Joko Siswanto, head of the traffic accident unit at the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police, on 23 September.

The fatal incident occurred at about midday. The victim was travelling from east to west when, near the Pesing flyover in Grogol Petamburan, he hit the flyover’s road barrier, Siswanto said.

The impact threw the motorcyclist off his bike and beneath a box lorry travelling in the opposite direction. He died at the scene, and his body was taken to Tangerang Regional General Hospital.

On another occasion, a cement lorry’s rear axle broke, leading to a temporary traffic diversion. “Traffic on the Pesing flyover towards Grogol is being diverted below because a cement truck has suffered a broken rear axle,” AKP Sudarmo, the operations development officer at the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police traffic unit, told reporters on 17 October 2025.

On Thursday 29 October this year, another accident occurred when motorcyclist Cahyadi Ramadani fell from the Pesing flyover in West Jakarta. He was injured.

Kompol Kharisma Arbita Bangsa, head of the accident unit at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate’s Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate, said the incident happened at about 11pm. The victim had been travelling east.

“On reaching the Pesing flyover, he was involved in a single-vehicle accident and fell from the bridge,” he said on Friday 30 October.

The victim suffered injuries to his hands and legs and is receiving treatment at Cengkareng Regional General Hospital.
