Motorcyclist Falls After Failed Overtaking Attempt; Passenger Killed by Truck in Bogor

A traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a water tanker truck took place at the Jambu Dua intersection on Jalan Pajajaran, Bogor City. As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist sustained injuries, while the passenger passed away.

“A traffic accident has occurred between a motorcycle and a water tanker truck. One victim has died, and one person is injured,” stated Iptu FX Susilo, Sub-unit Head of Traffic Accidents for the Bogor City Police, on Monday (8/6/2026).

Susilo explained that the accident happened while the tanker truck and the motorcycle, ridden by AR and carrying passenger TA, were travelling from the direction of the BORR Toll intersection towards Tugu Kujang. At the scene, the motorcyclist attempted to overtake the truck from the left side while intending to turn right. This manoeuvre caused the motorcycle to strike the front-left section of the truck, causing the rider to fall underneath the vehicle.

“It is suspected that the motorcyclist was not sufficiently cautious or anticipatory when attempting to overtake the tanker truck from the left while preparing to turn right. Consequently, they struck the front-left side of the truck,” he added.

“The rider then fell, and both the driver and passenger ended up underneath the tanker truck, where the passenger was crushed by the rear wheels of the truck,” he further elaborated.

The incident resulted in the death of the passenger, identified by the initials TA, at the scene. The driver, identified as AR, sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

“As a result of the incident, the motorcyclist sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at the PMI Bogor Hospital, while the passenger sustained injuries and died at the scene. Both vehicles involved in the accident also sustained damage,” said Susilo.
