Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting Pothole and Being Run Over by Truck in North Jakarta

A man, identified only by his initials DR, died after being run over by a trailer truck while riding his motorcycle on Jalan RE Martadinata near the Ancol Water Pumping Station in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Wednesday morning.

“The accident occurred at 09:20 WIB between a trailer truck and a motorcycle, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist,” said Head of Traffic Accident Unit of the North Jakarta Police, AKP Edy Wibowo, as quoted by Antara.

He said the motorcyclist, with license plate number B 4535 UBG, died at the scene.

“The victim suffered injuries to his arms, and blood was coming from his mouth and ears,” he said.

Officers are currently investigating the scene and the cause of the accident.

“This case is still under investigation,” he said.

Hitting a pothole

The accident occurred when the victim, DR, was riding his motorcycle with license plate number B 4535 UBG, heading from east to west. However, upon reaching near the Ancol Water Pumping Station, the motorcyclist hit a pothole on the road.

The victim swerved to the left and fell, then grazed a trailer truck with license plate number B 9026 KOM, driven by a man with the initials AT, who was traveling in the same direction.

“As a result, the victim was run over and died, and the victim’s motorcycle was damaged and crushed,” he said.
