Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing into Truck That Was Checking Its Tyre Under the UI Flyover

JAKARTA — A motorcyclist died after colliding with a Mitsubishi Colt truck under the flyover at UI Access in South Jakarta early Thursday (5 March 2026). A video posted by Instagram account @infodepok_id shows the crash drawing a crowd; the area around the location was dark due to limited lighting. Several police officers, traffic police units and an ambulance were at the scene. The head of traffic unit of South Jakarta Police, Kompol Mujiyanto, said the crash is estimated to have occurred around 02:30 WIB. ‘The motorcyclist hit the back of the truck and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead,’ Mujiyanto told Kompas.com on Thursday. Initially, the Mitsubishi Colt is believed to have tyre trouble while travelling from Jakarta toward Depok. The truck driver then stopped right under the UI flyover, just before the Welcome Monument to Depok. ‘Witnesses say the Mitsubishi Colt had a tyre problem and stopped, and the motorcyclist crashed from behind,’ he added.
