Motorcycles and Cars Parked on Rasuna Said Sidewalk During Concert, DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency Apologises

Hundreds of motorcycles and cars parked on the pavement and along HR Rasuna Said road in South Jakarta on Sunday night, 31 May 2026, went viral on social media. The vehicles are believed to belong to attendees of a concert held at GOR Soemantri Brodjonegoro. The situation drew public criticism as vehicles occupied the road and pavement, which should be reserved for pedestrians. Videos and images of the scene were widely shared on social media, including by Jakarta resident and content creator Ijoel. The Instagram account @jakarta.terkini reposted the video, stating that illegal parking occurred along HR Rasuna Said, disrupting pedestrian access and traffic flow. ‘The situation has drawn criticism for impeding pedestrian access and causing traffic congestion in the area,’ the account wrote. Ijoel Highlights Pavement Used for Parking In the circulating video, netizen Ijoel highlighted numerous vehicles using the pavement and road as parking spaces. He expressed disappointment that newly improved public facilities were being misused by event attendees. ‘Rasuna Said’s road and pavement were widened and improved, not for parking. Everyone, please have some awareness; don’t perpetuate this culture or normalise it,’ Ijoel said. He also showed footage of Rasuna Said around 8:30 PM WIB, with vehicles parked along the roadside. ‘Look at this. This is how people behave. Jakarta residents. The pavement and lanes on Rasuna Said were widened. See for yourself. It’s not for parking, but this is the reality,’ he said in the video. Confronted Drivers, Popped Tyre Ijoel even visited Setiabudi service unit officers in South Jakarta to report the situation. Officers said they were monitoring the area and would proceed to the scene. According to Ijoel, the concert organisers should have coordinated parking and traffic management beforehand to prevent road chaos.
