Motorcycle Thief in Rantau Pulung Arrested by Kutim Police's 'Macan' Team

A 23-year-old man from Boyolali, Central Java, identified by the initials DR, was arrested by the ‘Macan’ Team of the East Kutai (Kutim) Police Resort for stealing a motorcycle. The arrest took place on Monday evening (20/7) on Jalan Ahmad Yani in the Teluk Pandan sub-district, without any resistance from the suspect. The case came to light after a victim named Santi Fitriani reported her blue Yamaha WR 155 motorcycle, with registration number KT 2949 RDY, as stolen. According to the police, the incident occurred in early June in the Margo Mulyo sub-district, Rantau Pulung, when the victim left the key in the ignition after returning home from work. The suspect took advantage of this negligence and stole the motorcycle in the early hours of the morning. The theft was captured on a neighbour’s CCTV, which aided the police investigation. The suspect, who was unemployed, admitted to the police that he stole the motorcycle for personal transportation to look for work. He was apprehended while riding the stolen vehicle and is now being held at the Kutim Police Resort headquarters to face legal proceedings under Article 362 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning theft.
